American sterling silver mug or child′s cup in an Arabesque style pattern by The Whiting Manufacturing Company, c.1875. This handsome cup has a wide lower band of Arabesque style decorations with beaded and leaf and dart borders. There is a beaded border under the rim. The D shaped handle is decorated with Rosettes. The center of the body is inscribed, in orate, period script, RFW from AVVF. Weighing a substantial 192 grams or 6.2 ozs. Troy, the mug is 4 1/2" across the handle, 2 7/8" in diameter and 3 1/2" tall. Inscribed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
